Smart Segments are an advanced feature on Emercury built to help you craft dynamic, real-time segments all based on specific criteria that you define. Whereas traditional static segments require a manual refresh, with Smart Segments our systems monitor changes in real time and instantly update a segment whenever a contact meets, or no longer meets the defined criteria.

How do I start using Smart Segments work

  1. Create a Segment: Start by creating an advanced segment as you normally would, and define the criteria. If you're using the advanced builder you know that you can get as granular as you want with the combination of different criteria, whether this includes opens, clicks, or anything else.

  2. Activate Smart Segment: When the segment is created simply tick the "Smart Segment" box. This will instantly turn your static segment into a "Smart Segment"

  3. Real-time Updates: Your Smart Segment will now be updated in real-time, automatically adding or removing contacts based on their activity.

Common Use Cases:

  • Engager Lists: Instantly determine when a lead qualifies an engaged hot lead so that all emails going forward make sense for a lead at this stage of the customer journey

  • Re-engagement Campaigns: Easily automate your re-engagement campaigns such that contacts receive the campaign at just the right time, not too early, and not too late

  • Personalized Campaigns: Easily trigger campaigns based on specific behaviors or interests, the moment the leads meet a set of criteria.

Benefits of Smart Segments:

  • Increased Efficiency: While manual refreshes are easy with Emercury, it is still a task that you have to think of and remember to do.

  • Improved Targeting: With instantly updated segments all of your emails become more relevant because you're sending emails relevant to their stage, and not based on outdated segmentation.

  • Enhanced Personalization: Your ability to personalize effectively is directly tied to how accurate the segmentation data is.

Note: Smart Segments are a computationally intensive feature and are limited based on your Emercury subscription plan.

Use Case Example:

To create a Smart Segment of contacts who have opened an email within the last 30 days:

  1. Build an advanced segment with the condition "Email Opens" and set the date range to the past 30 days.

  2. Activate the "Smart Segment" option.

This segment will now automatically update as contacts open emails within the specified timeframe.

By leveraging Smart Segments, you can streamline your email marketing efforts and achieve more targeted and effective campaigns.
