If your business is in the EU (European Union) or you are processing data from subscribers in the EU the GDPR will affect you.

Note: Just enabling GDPR fields on your signup forms will not make you compliant. It’s the first part of a multi-step process.

Lets get started

Set up your GDPR-friendly signup form

To use GDPR fields on your signup forms, enable them for each list that collects or contains personal data from EU citizens, then edit them to reflect your marketing practices.

Enable GDPR Fields

After you enable GDPR fields for a list, they will be available to view and edit in the form builder.

  1. Navigate to Assets -> Forms in the top main menu bar.

  2. Click Edit In the form settings area to the right of the form you want to enable

3. Once you are in the form properties you will see a checkbox for GDPR form. Check this box to enable GDPR fields.

4. Once you have enabled the checkbox for GDPR form you will be presented with new fields as shown here:

Thats it. Your form is now GDPR Enabled. Next we will talk about the GDPR fields.

Edit GDPR Fields

GDPR fields are only editable from the form builder. The changes you make in the form builder will apply to Emercury signup forms.

GDPR Header - What is this form going to be used for?

GDPR Description - Here you can put what you plan on using the collected information for. Here is an example:

[Your company name] will use the information you provide on this form to be in touch with you to provide updates and marketing. Please let us know all the way you would like to hear from us.

GRPR Options

Email
Direct Mail
Online Advertising

By using this text you are offering the ability to segment how you communicate with your subscribers.

Another way to do this could be

GDPR Description
[Your company name] will use the information you provide on this form to be in touch with you to provide updates and marketing. Please let us know all the types of information you would like to hear from us.

GDPR Options
Weekly Tips on how to use our service or product
Promotions and new feature annoucements on our products and services
Offers on products and services we think you could benefit from

Note: the + sign allows you to add more options and the - sign deletes the option.

Lastly you will see the option for the legal text box. Here you can ensure the subscriber that they can change their mind and settings at anytime as well as request to delete information on them and add your privacy policy link if need be.

Here is an example:

You can unsubscribe from receiving emails from us at anytime by clicking the Remove Me link in the footer of any email you receive from us or by contact us at [email protected]. If you would like us to delete any of your information at anytime you can also contact us at [email protected]. Here is our privacy policy for you to review. http://yourdomain.com/privacy/

Collecting Consent

Once you are done setting up your GDPR fields you will now be able to use your form on your website. On step 2 of the form generator you will have the options to design the form. As a note if you dont need to collect personal information the don't. Collect what you need only.

Here is an example of what that may look like based on the previous GDPR fields we just edited.

You have the options on the left side of the designer to add and remove fields as needed. You also have the option to customize up to 30 fields.
