The AI Agent is an assistant built into your Emercury account. It helps you write email copy, build HTML templates, generate images, review subject lines, translate emails, check your domain authentication, and work through deliverability problems.
You talk to it the same way you would talk to a marketing colleague: describe what you need in plain language and it picks the right tool for the job.
Who can use it: the AI Agent is available on all paid plans. It is not available on the Free plan.
Opening the Agent
Click Agent in the top navigation menu. You'll find it next to the exclamation mark icon.
The Agent page has two areas:
Sidebar (left): your AI Settings, usage limits and Active chat history.
Chat (right): where you talk to the Agent.
AI Settings
AI Settings control how the Agent responds and what it knows about your business.
Response detail
Choose how much detail you want in each answer. Changes save automatically.
Light: short, concise answers.
Medium: balanced answers for everyday tasks.
High: more context and fuller explanations.
AI model
Pick the model the Agent uses for your current browser session.
em-lite: faster responses that use fewer tokens.
em: higher-quality responses for more complex requests.
Instructions for EM Agent
Tell the Agent about your business, your audience, your email goals, your tone of voice and any terms you prefer. The Agent applies these instructions to every conversation, so you don't have to repeat them. Click Save instructions to apply your changes.
A few lines go a long way. For example: "We sell handmade leather goods to customers in the US and UK. Our tone is warm and plain-spoken. We never use discount language like 'cheap' or 'bargain'."
Token usage
See how many tokens you've used over the last 30 days. The chart shows daily usage. Hover over any day to see the exact number.
Usage limits
Usage limits show how much of your AI Agent capacity you've used in the current billing period.
Requests / day: how many Agent requests you have left today.
Tokens used today: tokens consumed so far today. Both your message and the Agent's reply count toward this.
More limits: opens your other limits, including your monthly token allowance.
Your monthly token allowance depends on your plan:
Plan | Monthly token allowance |
Starter | 50,000 |
Grow | 150,000 |
Pro | 250,000 |
Scale | 400,000 |
Tip: switch to the em-lite model and Light response detail for quick tasks to make your tokens go further.
How to talk to the Agent
Write your request in plain language and include the details in the same message. The Agent works from what you give it, so the more context you add, the better the result. You don't need to know the name of a skill: the Agent recognizes what you're asking for and picks the right one.
Examples that work well:
"Create a welcome email for new subscribers to our yoga studio. Use calm colors, one hero image and a button to book a first class."
"Write three subject lines for our Black Friday sale. 30% off everything, ends Sunday."
"Review this subject line and suggest three better ones. Subject: Your monthly product update. Preheader: New features and improvements."
"Generate a banner image of a coffee cup on a wooden table, warm morning light, 600 x 300 px."
"Audit the email authentication for example.com."
"Our Gmail open rate dropped from 28% to 9% last week after we increased sending from 10,000 to 50,000 emails per day. What's causing it?"
You can keep the conversation going. Ask follow-up questions, request changes ("make it shorter", "try a more playful tone") or ask the Agent to explain its reasoning.
Good to know: in chat, the Agent does not read your campaign, list or report data directly. For tasks that depend on that data, either paste in the figures yourself or use the AI buttons on the relevant pages (see AI tools on other pages below).
What you can do in chat
These skills work directly in the Agent chat. Some also have a slash command for faster access.
Skill | What it does | Shortcut | What to include |
Email template creation | Creates or updates HTML email templates | /template | Audience, campaign goal, brand colors and style, content, sections you need |
Email content creation | Writes campaign copy, welcome emails, newsletters, promotions and calls to action | None, just ask | Offer, audience, tone, length |
Image generation | Creates or revises campaign images. Images can be saved to your Image Library | /generate-image | Subject, style, colors, dimensions, composition, any text on the image |
Email localization | Translates and adapts your subject line, preheader, text or HTML into another language, keeping links, merge tags like {{first_name}}, unsubscribe elements and layout intact | /email-localization | Target language, plus the subject, preheader and HTML or text to translate |
Subject line and header review | Scores subject lines and preheaders for length, capitalization, punctuation, spam-risk wording and relevance, then suggests better versions | /subject-line-headers | Subject line, preheader, and ideally the email text |
Deliverability diagnosis | Finds likely causes of spam placement, bounces, complaints, throttling and provider-specific issues, with confidence levels and an investigation plan | /deliverability-diagnosis | Sending domain, affected mailbox provider, sending volume, when it started, bounce and complaint rates, any SMTP error messages |
SPF, DKIM and DMARC audit | Checks your domain's authentication records through DNS: SPF lookup limits, DKIM keys, DMARC policy, alignment and reporting | /spf-dkim-dmarc-audit | Your domain, and optionally your DKIM selector |
Email localization works in chat today, so you can start translating right away. We're also building it directly into our upcoming email builder, so you'll be able to translate without leaving your email.
Using shortcuts
Type the shortcut followed by your request in the same message. The Agent doesn't prompt you for details after a bare command, so give it everything up front.
/spf-dkim-dmarc-audit example.com
/deliverability-diagnosis Many emails are going to spam at Outlook, while Gmail delivery is normal. It started after we changed our sending domain last Tuesday. We send about 20,000 emails a day.
/subject-line-headers Subject: HUGE SALE!!! BUY NOW!!! Preheader: Limited time offer. Email text: Save 50% on all products this weekend.
/email-localization Translate this email into German. Subject: Welcome to our newsletter Preheader: Discover our latest updates HTML: <table><tr><td>Hello {{first_name}}, welcome to our newsletter!</td></tr></table>AI tools on other pages
Many AI features sit right on the pages where you build and review your campaigns. They use the same AI settings and usage limits as the Agent, and the ones that analyze your campaigns, lists or reports send that data to the Agent automatically, so you don't have to copy anything in.
Feature | Where to find it | What you get |
AI Email Assistant | Create Your Campaign, Step 1, in both email editors (HTML and drag-and-drop) | A full email template generated from your description. Start from a quick prompt (Welcome email, Newsletter, Promotion, Transactional) or write your own |
Ask AI for subject and preheader | Create Your Campaign, Step 2, under the Subject line field: "more subject ideas" or "based on content" | Subject and preheader pairs. Click Use subject, Use preheader or Use both to fill in the fields |
AI Campaign Analysis | Create Your Campaign, Step 4 (Finalize & Send), next to Content Scoring | Recommendations on content, structure, subject line and marketing effectiveness before you send |
AI Audience Check | List Management: open any list, top right | List quality, composition, engagement, bounce indicators and other risks |
AI Campaign Report | Reporting Center: open any campaign report, top right | Analysis of delivery, opens, clicks, bounces, complaints, unsubscribes and domain-level results |
Image generation | Image Manager | The same image generation as the chat, without leaving your images |
You'll also see /campaign-preflight, /audience-check and /campaign-report in the chat commands list. We don't recommend running them from chat: you'd have to enter all of your campaign, list or report data by hand, and the results may be incomplete. The buttons above do this for you.
AI Email Assistant: In Step 1 of Create Your Campaign, look at the row of buttons above the editor. Click the green AI Email Assistant button, to the left of the HTML and Plain buttons. In the window that opens, pick a quick prompt (Welcome Email, Newsletter, Promotion or Transactional) or describe your email in the text box, then click Generate Template.
Generate Subject & Preheader: In Step 2 of Create Your Campaign, find Ask AI under the Subject line field, below the Personalize and Smart Personalization links. Click more subject ideas for fresh suggestions, or based on content for ideas that match your email. In the Generate Subject & Preheader window, click Generate Ideas, then click Use subject, Use preheader or Use both on the suggestion you like.
AI Campaign Analysis: In Step 4 of Create Your Campaign (Finalize & Send), look at the row of buttons below your campaign summary. AI Campaign Analysis is the first button on the left, next to Content Scoring.
AI Audience Check: Go to List Management and open the list you want to check. Click AI Audience Check at the top right, to the left of the Refresh button.
AI Campaign Report: Go to the Reporting Center and open the report for a sent campaign. Click AI Campaign Report at the top right, to the left of the Refresh and Export Report buttons.
Tips and good practice
Fill in Instructions for EM Agent first. It's the quickest way to get on-brand results from the first message.
Pick up where you left off. Open any conversation from Active chat history in the sidebar.
Never share credentials. Don't paste passwords, private keys, API keys or other confidential details into the chat. The Agent never needs them. Aggregate figures like open rates, bounce rates and volumes are all it needs.
Review before you send. Always check generated content, links and merge tags before a campaign goes out.
What's next
The AI Agent is just the start. We're working on deeper AI integration across the platform, along with a few surprises we can't wait to show you.
