What is an autoresponder?

An autoresponder is an automated email that is sent based on a specific trigger.

Common examples include:

  • A welcome email after someone subscribes

  • A thank-you message after a purchase

  • Follow-ups based on user engagement

How autoresponders work

Autoresponders are built around triggers β€” actions or conditions that determine when an email is sent.

Some common triggers include:

  • When a contact is added or opts in

  • When an email is opened or clicked

  • When a specific link or category is interacted with

Types of autoresponders

When creating an autoresponder, you’ll choose between two types:

  • Immediate β†’ Sent as soon as the trigger occurs

  • Scheduled β†’ Sent within a defined time frame after the trigger
